Pediatric Hearing Assessments

At Suction Ears Audiology, we provide comprehensive pediatric hearing assessments for children aged 4 years and older. Early detection of hearing difficulties is crucial for speech, language, and cognitive development. Our assessments are designed to be child-friendly, thorough, and tailored to your child’s needs.

What’s Involved?

A pediatric hearing assessment at Suction Ears Audiology includes a full test battery to evaluate your child’s hearing ability and middle ear function. The session is approximately 75 minutes, allowing enough time for testing, explanation, and reporting.

Case History & Parent Discussion

We begin with a discussion about your child’s hearing, speech, and medical history to understand any concerns following a brief intake form / pre-appointment questionnaire.

Middle Ear Testing (Tympanometry & Acoustic Reflexes)

These tests assess the function of the middle ear and detect conditions such as fluid behind the eardrum, eustachian tube dysfunction, or otitis media (middle ear infections).

Pure-Tone Audiometry (PTA)

A test to determine hearing sensitivity across different frequencies. Depending on the child’s age and ability, we use either:

Speech Testing

This evaluates how well your child hears and understands speech:
